Maybelline Lash Stilleto Mascara and how to apply mascara
I hate this mascara!! I totally hate it! It definitely lengthens your eyelashes, but it ends up looking all spidery longy which is so not cute! It looks so fake! I would recommend you wear it with some volumizing mascara to make it look “normal”.
I decided to do a small “tutorial on how to apply mascara to make your eyelashes appear all lustrous and pretty.. Of course, you should choose a mascara you are most comfortable with and one that can really bring out your eyes
My personal favourite has to be Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Black mascara cause it is dark, and it thickens my lashes, which I totally loooove
Enough of this, so here it goes
How to apply mascara
Items needed: Mascara (duh!), cotton bud (optional, but would be very useful
), eyelash curler (optional, but it would make it look nicer
), lash comb (optional), old – clean – mascara wand)
1) Make sure that your lashes are clean and pretty
I usually use facial wipes to take off my eye makeup. I use either Johnson and Johnson wipes or Nivea Cleansing wipes
Alternatively, you could use eye makeup remover
2) Use your eyelash curler to curl your lashes. You should curl from the base of the lashes, pressing the curler about 5-10s at each section. Make sure you work outwards towards the tips of your lashes. If you “overcurl” i.e. accidentally pressed your curlers for too long and end up with freaky looking lashes, don’t worry. It will become less freaky once you brush on the mascara. But if you’re still worried it would end up looking awkward, just brush your lashes with the old mascara wand several times and it should start looking like normal soon enough
3) After curling your lashes, it is now time to put on the mascara
Start from the base of your lashes and work outwards. To avoid clumping, you should make sure that the mascara is still “wet” when applying the second coat. I generally apply two coats of mascara.
A professional tip I’ve come across is to apply mascara on both sides of your lashes. This way, the lashes won’t be too weighed down by the mascara on the bottom part of it, and thus the curl will last longer and your lashes will look prettier for an extended period
4) At this point, I usually will end up with some mascara on my lids. This is where the cotton bud comes in handy. Dip the cotton bud in some eye makeup remover and wipe off the mascara from your lid ![]()
One tip I got from Michelle Phan (the makeup Guru on Youtube) is to use a card (or any sort of stiff paper) on your lid when applying your mascara. This tip is especially useful if you already applied eye shadow and do not want to waste that.
5) Use the lash comb to brush out any clumps. If you are like me, and find that the comb isn’t really helpful in getting rid of the “tough”er clumps, use the old mascara wand instead.
6) Tada!! You should now have beautiful, clump free lashes
Hope that was helpful
and have a great day
